SUMMARY:Beginner Workshop — October 4th
DESCRIPTION:Learn the basics and get comfortable social dancing in this fun beginner’s workshop. Nissreen will get you started with basic six-count rhythm for the first hour. You will practice it with different songs until everyone becomes comfortable. \nWe will take a 10-minute break\, then\, for the second hour\, we will be learning right and left turns to open and closed position\, plus a few easy and fun patterns that you can take and apply to social dancing. \nWe will take another 5-minute break\, then for the last hour\, we will have a guided mini practice session\, where you can get comfortable with social dancing\, and you can also come to Nissreen if you have questions. \nThe workshop will be light\, fun\, and a healthy escape from your screen. Bring a friend; the more\, the merrier. \nCost is $25 if you register before 9/30 or $30 if you register after and can be paid via Venmo. Be sure to indicate on the “what is this for” line of your Venmo payment whether you intend to take the workshop as a lead or follow by writing “Workship Lead” or Workshop Follow.” This helps us balance the ratio of leads and follows so everyone has the most opportunity to dance. \nWear comfortable flat shoes and comfortable clothes that are suitable for light jogging.\nThis workshop is a safe\, inclusive space and LGBTQ friendly. (It is safe to park in “Permit Parking Only” spaces since it is off-hours.) \n\nAbout Nissreen\nNissreen Almazouni has been dancing for over 20 years and teaching for the past ten in New Jersey and the Tri-State area. She learned the Lindy Hop in New York City from iconic instructors who studied with Frankie Manning\, and had the the pleasure and honor to take lessons with him as well. She has performed professionally with many Lindy Hop groups in NYC (such as the Lindy Hop All-stars and the Big Apple Lindy Hoppers) and continues to perform in summer Jazz festivals\, private gigs and her own performance classes.  She is passionate about teaching and helping students build a solid technique foundation. She also aims to foster a unique sense of musicality for the dance in all her students.  All while having fun. She currently teaches group lessons at Swing Remix in NYC as well as ongoing lessons in NJ.
